Summer 2019 is a defining moment for trends on the rise. Fashion is taking risks and so are we when it comes to showcasing the best styles and options for our customers accessories. When it comes to sunglasses specifically, designers are no longer adhering to “rules”. An athletic frame previously only marketed to athletes or even worse, only men, are now making their rounds on the faces of some of the most prominent supermodels in the world. The same goes for colorful bright shades or cat eyes. We are seeing these styles being embraced fully and not just rendered as a kooky accessory you wear to a themed party.
We’ve scoured the web to find the best trends on the rise in sunglasses this summer, and offered up our own takes on said trends with options from our vast collections.
Athletic Frames
Whether you’re actually into sports and participating in them, or just like the cool style, you should take the plunge and participate in the wave of newly style athletic frames hitting the scene. A favorite of supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid, the athletic style frames are a perfect mix of function and fashionable. Chunky Frames
We all remember the iconic oversized black chunky frames that Audrey Hepburn adorned in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The embodiment of her cool and mysterious character wrapped up in one legendary accessory that is still the main piece accessory at the heart of any Holly Golightly costume. This summer, this iconic artifact is back in the forefront of sunglasses, with a slight edge. Not just limited to the classic oversized black shades, the chunky look is sweeping all different colors and size options on the sunglasses spectrum. Tiny Frames, Colorful Lenses
The year is 2019 and we are living in the Renaissance of tiny sunglasses. From athletic styles, to chunky, to waif thin wire frames, the tiny sunglasses are here to stay. Ask anyone. Fro the world’s largest influences like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, to our favorite tiny pop star Ariana Grande, we’ve seen every variation of tiny sunglasses known to man. Now imagine all of these but better. That’s what you get when you combine tiny sunglasses with the unique and colorful lenses that have taken the runways and city streets by storm. Having to adapt that tiny sunglasses are now here to stay, designers are looking for new ways to make their marks on the fashion trend. This latest iteration sticks to the same formula but makes it fun. Whether lenses be full on bright red, or pastel pink, it doesn’t matter. As long as the color makes every person you pass on the street look twice.
Geometric Lenses
A testament to how far we’ve come in the fashion world is our incorporation of different shapes and sizes of items. With clothing we’ve seen the smaller the better crop tops making a come back from thir 80’s roots, to oversized smocks and mismatch patterns. In the accessories game, we’ve seen bags of all different shapes and sizes, pulled inside out and gutted to their most simplest forms. As far as sunglasses are concerned, there are no longer just big and small, oversized or normal, cat eye or aviator. Unique takes on these classic styles have arrived in geometric shapes and modern design that comes in all different shapes and sizes. Geometric sunglasses are the overarching “box” that holds all of the different type of sunglasses you may have never known how to categorize. A favorite of ours is a classic take on the oversized square sunnies but in the form of an octagonal, 8 sided lense.
